Need Help of ideas

Just got engaged and I am getting married next October of 2009, and there is so much to do. I am trying to plan early and keep a low budget but elegant wedding. What do you do first. I only been in charlotte 2 yrs just finding my way around so looking for some places and ideas for my wedding. Where should i start to get my wedding going on the right track. Please help some advice. Thanks
